To whom it may concern Our Experiences of Searching for and Acquiring Property in Slovenia Having visited Slovenia on a number of occasions and being particularly impressed by the beauty of the landscapes and the friendliness of the Slovenians My wife and I decided to give consideration to acquiring a holiday home/apartment in the country. Following extensive research as to the size, location and price of property we were interested in we started to trawl a number of web sites which advertised Slovenian properties for sale. Having identified a number of properties of interest we then made contact via e-mail with several agents to ascertain further information and enquire as to arrangements for viewing. The response to our enquiries was variable and as a number of websites appeared to display the same properties we decided to make further contact with that company which had been most responsive to our initial approach. This was Slovenia Real Estate. Our initial contact was Geraint George who provided us with an appraisal of the market and the advantages and disadvantages of the various locations we wished to consider. At the time we were most interested in the Soca Valley and the Bovec area in particular. Having determined when we wished to travel Geraint arranged our hotel accommodation in Slovenia and ensured that we were met at our hotel, at prearranged times, by various local agents to look at properties of interest. Throughout our visit Geraint kept in touch via Mobile phone to ensure things were running smoothly. Our initial search did not prove particularly fruitful however and following further discussion with Geraint as to alternative locations I arranged to meet him and a colleague at Ljubljana airport. From there he took me to view several more properties one of which was of particular interest .We discussed the alternative properties from an investment perspective with particular regard to letting potential both from a holiday standpoint for skiing and summer breaks and an alternative scenario of a longer let should we decide not to use the apartment ourselves at some future date. On returning to the UK we decided to place an offer for what at that time was a property under construction. Slovenia –real estate were extremely attentive during this process in ensuring buyer and seller were aware of each others requirements and once a price had been agreed were very responsive and constructive in drawing up the contract and ensuring our requests for amendments were dealt with quickly and efficiently. What has been particularly pleasing has been the on-going support and guidance offered by Slovenia Real Estate in overcoming any post purchase difficulties we have encountered.
